Role and responsibility

The Installation Postal Officer runs the Military Post Office (MPO) at land installations per DoDI 4525.09DODI 4525.09 and MCO 5110.4BMCO 5110.4B. The Fleet Post Office (FPO) Postal Officer runs the FPO at sea-based units. The Military Postal Service Agency (MPSA) oversees DoD-wide postal operations. USPS provides the mail transportation infrastructure under 39 U.S.C. The Defense Transportation System supports military mail movement per DoD 4500.9-R.

Processing workflow
