MARADMIN 181/26 - Fiscal Year 2028 (FY28) Headquarters Marine Corps Special Duty Assignment Campaign

Scope

MARADMIN 181/26 announces the FY28 HQMC Special Duty Assignment (SDA) Campaign. Marines approved for an FY28 SDA have a class report date between 2027-10-01 and 2028-09-30. The campaign runs in two phases. Voluntary Assignment Period (VAP) 2026-05-01 to 2027-02-12. Involuntary Assignment Period (IVAP) 2027-03-01 to 2027-07-31. Applicability is the Active Component.

Audience

• Marines seeking SDA. Submit SDA Reenlistment, Extension, Lateral Move (RELM) through TFRS by 2027-02-12 for volunteer status.
• Career counselors. Coordinate volunteer packages.
• HQMC SDA monitors. Conduct the SDA Opportunities Brief (2026-07-29 to 2026-09-03) and 2026-12 roadshow.
• Major Subordinate Commands. Request monitor visits through the MMEA Retention Assist Visit Request Form.

Eligibility

• Minimum 24 months time of station prior to FY28 class report date.
• Marines who executed a lateral move into present MOS must complete 24 months in the new MOS before class start.
• Marines who completed a prior SDA must have 24 months in Fleet Marine Forces prior to class start.
• Combat Instructor billets largely restricted to infantry PMOSs.

Financial incentives

Volunteer rates (per MARADMIN 628/20 framework).

• Recruiter. $703 monthly with monthly VSI, OR $425 monthly plus $10,000 lump sum VSI.
• Drill Instructor. $578 monthly with monthly VSI, OR $300 monthly plus $10,000 lump sum VSI.
• MSG DC. $578 monthly with monthly VSI, OR $300 monthly plus $10,000 lump sum VSI.

Non-volunteer rates.

• Recruiter. $425 monthly.
• Drill Instructor. $300 monthly.
• MSG DC. $300 monthly.
• Combat Instructor. $300 monthly (no VSI).
