Scope
MARADMIN 200/25 publishes command responsibilities for the completion of command chronologies and announces History Division (HD) support. Command chronologies are the single most important body of historical records created, collected, and maintained by the Marine Corps. The records support award submissions, legal investigations, official research, lineage and honors determinations, and force design decisions. Applicability is the Marine Corps Total Force.
Audience
- Active and reserve Marine Corps units. Submit command chronologies on the published schedule.
- Unit commanders. Designate a Staff Historian in writing. Sign each command chronology (no By-Direction or Acting, no digital signatures).
- Staff Historians at the unit. Prepare and submit command chronologies as OCR PDF documents to History Division.
- Marine Corps History Division (HD), Quantico VA. Archives the submissions. Maintains a monthly report on submission status.
- IG inspectors. Encouraged to evaluate the Marine Corps Historical Program (FAC 5750) during command inspection programs.
Submission schedule
- Fleet Marine Force units down to battalion or squadron level. Semi-annual. Period 01 October to 31 March due 30 June. Period 01 April to 30 September due 31 December.
- All other commands and Marine Corps Reserve units. Annual. Period 01 October to 30 September due 31 December.
- Operational deployments for combat. Monthly command chronologies per MCO 5750.1H.
Submission rules
- Format. OCR PDF documents emailed to History.Division@usmcu.edu.
- Signature. Commanding officer signature required. By-Direction and Acting signatures are not permitted. Digital signatures are not permitted.
- HD verifies each report and issues an email receipt once accepted into the archive.
