Obligated service application
The portal applies this message with MCO P1400.32D for the SNCO obligated service rule.
- Marines selected to SSgt through SgtMaj or MGySgt need 24 months of obligated service remaining on contract from the promotion date.
- Commanding officers hold authority to locally extend Marines using projected tables in monthly promotion MARADMINs to avoid promotion delays.
- Marines with draw case codes AF, AH, AX, or AY are excluded from local extension and submit through the Total Force Retention System (TFRS).
- Reenlistment routes through four avenues. CRP, CGRP, lateral move, and standard reenlistment.
- The Direct Affiliation Program preserves promotion selection for active-to-reserve transitions per MCO 1040.31.
- Refusal of obligated service triggers removal from the selection list by MMPB-11 and ineligibility for future promotion selection boards in the same component. The ineligibility does not transfer between components.
Connection to higher policy
- MCO P1400.32D. Marine Corps Promotion Manual, Volume 2, Enlisted Promotions.
