This advisory provides interim guidance to commands regarding implementing the increase in Secondary Caregiver Leave (SCL) from 14 days to 21 days, authorized by reference (a).
Background. Marine On-Line (MOL) and Marine Corps Total Force System (MCTFS) will implement the required changes on Thursday, 24 February 2022. Until the implementation date, there is not a system solution to account for the additional 7 days of SCL. MOL currently does not allow a user to request and be approved more than 14 days of SCL. If administrative personnel were to report more than 14 days of SCL via Unit Diary Manpower Integrated Personnel System (UDMIPS), MCTFS would charge the member those days in excess of 14 days as annual leave rather than the additional days of SCL. MCTFS logic does not support two individual SCL requests. The 21 days of authorized SCL must be reported via a single transaction.
Until MOL and MCTFS are updated to implement the required changes, the following interim guidance applies. This interim guidance applies only to those Marines who were executing SCL on or after 11 February 2022.
Administrative Procedures.
This interim guidance is applicable to the active component, Active Reserve, and to reserve component Marines on active duty orders for more than 365 days.
