PAA 09-12 - Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) and DD Form 214 Processing for VA Benefits Delivery

Scope

PAA 09-12 covers the Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES), the joint DoD-VA process by which DoD determines whether wounded, ill, or injured Service Members are fit for continued military service and by which DoD and VA determine appropriate benefits for Service Members separating or retiring for service-connected disability. The IDES goal is to complete the VA disability compensation delivery phase within 30 days from separation. The advisory directs timely OMPF placement and VA routing of the DD Form 214 to support the 30-day benefits delivery target. Effective date 2012-08-13.
