2. This PAA provides amplifying instructions to administrators and Commanders regarding the request for area clearance and dependent entry approval processes via AMHS for permanent change of station (PCS) moves to Overseas locations, specifically Marine Corps Installations Pacific area of responsibility and Marine Corps Forces Korea.
3. Background. With the reimplementation of the AMHS, and in accordance with the references, commands will once again be required to submit all area clearance requests for personnel being assigned overseas via AMHS.
4. Plan, Program, and Implementation. Effective 1 January 2022, commands with personnel issued orders to units located in Japan or South Korea will submit requests for area clearance via AMHS message. Requests for area clearance and dependent entry approval are to be submitted by the losing command or supporting Installation Personnel Administration Center (IPAC) to the respective gaining command identified in paragraph 4. Units must ensure each service and family member are screened for area clearance within 60 days of receipt of transfer orders. Area clearance requests must certify that all pre-PCS requirements have been completed and that the family members traveling under the orders are suitable for overseas assignment.
