SECNAVINST 5430.57H - Mission and Functions of the Naval Inspector General

Scope

SECNAVINST 5430.57H establishes the mission and functions of the Naval Inspector General (NAVIG / NAVINSGEN). The instruction sets NAVIG authority to inspect, investigate, and inquire into matters of Department of the Navy importance, reporting to the Secretary of the Navy as the Secretary's representative. The Marine Corps Deputy Naval Inspector General (DNIG / IGMC) is a Marine Corps General Officer. Effective 2019-12-17.
