What Data We Collect
You Control All Data Storage
This site stores data exclusively in your browser's local storage. You control what is stored and can delete it at any time. No data travels to a backend server or external service.
Data Stored in Your Browser
We store the following when you visit:
- Your selected role (marine, leader, commander, admin). Stored in
localStorageassemper-admin.role.v2. Persists until you clear browser data or explicitly change your role. - Your viewing history. Up to 12 of your recently viewed pages (title and URL only). Stored in the same localStorage key as your role. Persists until you clear browser data or explicitly clear your recents.
- Disclaimer acceptance. A flag indicating you have read and dismissed the proof-of-concept banner. Stored in
sessionStorageassap.disclaimer.dismissed. Clears when you close your browser tab. - Terms acceptance. A flag indicating you accepted the terms on your first visit. Stored in
localStorageassemper-admin-terms-agreed. Persists until you clear browser data.
None of these values contain personal information. Your role selection is a category (one of four words). Your viewing history contains only page titles and URLs, which are already visible in your browser history.
Data You Voluntarily Enter in Tools
Some tools on this site (PDF Letter Builder, DOCX Counseling Builder, PFT Score Calculator) accept text input. This data stays entirely in your browser. It does not reach our servers or any external service. When you export a PDF or DOCX file, the file is generated locally and downloaded to your computer. We never see the data you entered.
Third-Party Data Processing
GitHub Pages Hosting
This site is hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub may log your IP address, user-agent string, referrer, and access timestamp in accordance with GitHub's Privacy Statement. We do not have access to these logs. GitHub's privacy practices are governed by the GitHub Privacy Statement, not this policy.
You may review GitHub's Privacy Statement at https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-privacy-statement.
Pagefind Search Index
This site uses Pagefind for full-text search. The search index is generated at build time and contains only the text of published pages. The index is stored in your browser. Pagefind does not transmit search queries to a server or external service.
No Third-Party Analytics or Tracking
This site does not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Segment, or any other third-party analytics platform. We do not embed tracking pixels, conversion tags, or event listeners that report to external services.
No Cookies (Except As Required by GitHub)
We do not set cookies. Your browser's localStorage is used instead. GitHub Pages may set cookies as part of GitHub's standard web hosting practices. You can review GitHub's cookie practices in their Privacy Statement.

No Export or Portability
Because all data is stored in your browser, you do not need to contact us to export it. Your data is accessible via your browser's developer tools at any time.
No Deletion Request Process
This site does not maintain user accounts or databases. You control all data stored about you. Deletion is instantaneous and under your control. No "right to be forgotten" request is required.
How We Use Your Data
Role Selection
Your selected role determines which content appears in your sidebar and which menu options are available. Your role selection is not shared with anyone. It affects only your local browsing experience.
Viewing History (Recents)
Your recently viewed pages appear in a sidebar list labeled Last Viewed. This helps you navigate back to pages you were reading. The list is stored only in your browser. We never see or analyze your viewing history.
Terms Acceptance
We store a flag indicating you have reviewed and accepted the terms on your first visit. This allows us to show the terms once per browser instance instead of every visit. The acceptance flag is not transmitted to a server.
Disclaimer Dismissal
We store a flag indicating you have read the proof-of-concept disclaimer. This allows you to dismiss the banner for your current browser tab without re-dismissing it each time you navigate. The flag is session-scoped and clears when you close the tab.
Data Retention
All data is retained as long as you keep it in your browser's storage. You may clear it yourself at any time using your browser's privacy settings. We do not delete data on our end because we do not store data on our end.
GitHub Pages may retain server logs of your access patterns for up to 90 days in accordance with GitHub's standard log retention policy. You do not have direct control over GitHub's logs.
Security
Your data is stored in your browser's local storage, which is subject to the same security measures your browser applies. Local storage is not encrypted by default and is accessible to any script running on this site.
If you access this site from a shared computer, other users of that computer may access the local storage in your browser if they use your browser profile. For sensitive work, use a private browser window or clear local storage after use.
This site is served over HTTPS. Data in transit is encrypted. GitHub's infrastructure provides standard HTTPS security.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you are under 13 and have created an account or stored data, contact your parent or guardian immediately.
Because this site stores data only in your browser and does not require account creation, we have no way to verify age or delete data on a child's behalf. Clear your browser data if you do not want your viewing history retained.
International Compliance
GDPR (European Union)
If you are in the EU, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your data. Because all data is stored in your browser under your control, you exercise these rights directly by managing your local storage.
We do not have a legal basis to transfer your data outside the EU because we do not store your data. Your role selection and viewing history remain on your device.
If you believe we have violated your GDPR rights, you may file a complaint with your national data protection authority.
CCPA/CPRA (California)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what data is collected, delete it, and opt out of sale. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except GitHub Pages, which hosts this site.
All data collected about you is listed above. You control and delete this data using your browser's privacy settings.
UK GDPR
If you are in the United Kingdom, your rights are substantially similar to GDPR. All provisions above apply to you as well.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy at any time. Your continued use of this site after any change constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
We will not notify you of material changes beyond what you see on this page. Check back periodically for updates.
