Common Questions Marines Ask
I recently enlisted in a critical-skill MOS. What is my bonus?
Per Chapter 9 paragraph 2.2, EB is up to $75,000 for a minimum 2-year obligation in the current authorization period. The actual rate depends on the specific MOS and Service guidance. Verify with your S-1 against the controlling Marine Corps SRB Program MARADMIN.
I am at the end of my first enlistment. Should I take SRB or CSRB?
If your MOS is on the SRB list, you draw SRB at the rate published in the current MARADMIN. CSRB is for SECDEF-designated critical skills, not MOS-level. Your S-1 routes the determination based on the published lists.
I have 25 years of active duty. Am I eligible for another SRB?
Per Chapter 9 paragraph 3.2.8, SRB payments are not allowed past 28 years of active duty unless waived by DASD MPP. At 25 years, you might qualify if reenlisting before the 28-year point.
I broke service for 2 years and want to come back. Can I get a bonus?
Per Chapter 9 paragraph 5.0, the Prior Service Reenlistment Bonus applies. Up to $20,000 per year of obligated service for a minimum 3-year reenlistment. Less than 16 years total military service required.
