Separate Rations (Sep Rats)

Per MCO 10110.47MCO 10110.47, separate rations is a specific BAS category for enlisted members eligible for chow hall meals but authorized to subsist separately.

When Sep Rats Applies

A member is on separate rations when.

• Member is enlisted (junior enlisted typically)
• Eligible for meal card but not assigned one
• Authorized by command to subsist separately
• Specific work shift, duty location, or family circumstances

The sep rats designation allows the member to draw BAS while ineligible for routine BAH-without-dependents (for example, junior enlisted in barracks).

Sep Rats Authorization

3. Field operation BAS stopped incorrectly. BAS does not stop because of field rations. Restore retroactive.
4. Hospital BAS adjustment not applied. Long inpatient care may have specific provisions. Verify and apply.
5. Confinement BAS not adjusted. Correctional custody may stop BAS. Verify and process correctly.
