Scope

DODI 1341.14 establishes policy, assigns responsibilities, and provides direction for the use and oversight of the Servicemembers Group Life Insurance (SGLI) On-Line Enrollment System (SOES). SOES is the authoritative system of record for members with full-time SGLI coverage and the primary means for making changes to SGLI coverage and beneficiary designations. Common confusion

Authors and inspection items occasionally cite "DODI 1341.13 SGLI Program". That citation is wrong. DODI 1341.13 governs the Post-9/11 GI Bill Transfer of Education Benefits, not SGLI. SGLI SOES policy lives in this DODI, 1341.14.
