Scope
MARADMIN 379/22 publishes an awards update for the Marine Corps. The message authorizes unit award entries in NAVMC 2922, restates Joint Meritorious Unit Award (JMUA) participation rules, and tightens campaign medal eligibility for the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal (IRCM) and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (GWOT-SM). Operative provisions
- Paragraph 2.a note. Restates the JMUA rules. Members must be assigned to the cited joint unit by official orders and directly participate for at least 30 days, or the full period when the cited period runs under 30 days. The rule originated in MARADMIN 692/20 paragraph 2.a note.
- Paragraph 2.a note. The cited unit's commander holds discretionary authority to waive the 30-day minimum on an individual basis for reserve personnel on active duty and for TDY or TAD personnel assigned by orders who contributed directly.
- Paragraph 5. Confirms IRCM recognition for Operation Inherent Resolve service from 2014-06-15 forward, with service stars for subsequent qualifying periods.
- Paragraph 5.a. Effective 2022-07-01, limits IRCM eligibility to Syria, its associated airspace, and contiguous waters out to 12 nautical miles. MARADMIN 637/22 later extended the Iraq portion through 2022-12-31, then it closed.
