MARADMIN 692/20 - Awards Update

Scope

MARADMIN 692/20 publishes an awards update for the Marine Corps. The MARADMIN authorizes new unit awards in NAVMC 2922 and expands Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal (IRCM) eligibility to Marine Security Guards at the US Embassies in Baghdad and Erbil, Iraq. The MARADMIN supersedes only the specific entries in MARADMIN 473/20. Applicability is the Marine Corps Total Force.

Audience

• Commanders endorsing unit awards. Apply the new NAVMC 2922 entries.
• Marines at MSG Detachments Baghdad and Erbil, Iraq. Eligible for IRCM under defined campaign phases.
• Veteran Marines and IRR Marines. Submit SF 180 to obtain the medal and DD-214 update.
• HQMC MMMA. Adjudicates eligibility.

Unit awards authorized

• Joint Meritorious Unit Award (JMUA). HQ Combined JTF-Operation Inherent Resolve (2019-09-15 to 2020-09-14). HQ Special Operations JTF-Operation Inherent Resolve (2018-09-01 to 2020-06-15). HQ US Central Command (2018-08-01 to 2020-07-31). The Joint Staff (2015-10-01 to 2019-08-01) update adding LtCol Scott F. Schork.
• Meritorious Unit Commendation. 1st Maintenance Battalion (2017-09-01 to 2019-03-31). Marine Attack Squadron 231 (2016-04-01 to 2017-11-01). Marine Corps Air Station Miramar (2017-04-01 to 2018-09-03). Additional eligible personnel rosters in iAPS archived cases.

Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal expansion

Marines permanently assigned, attached, or detailed for 30 days (consecutive or non-consecutive) to MSG Detachments Baghdad or Erbil, Iraq during the listed campaign phases qualify.

• Abeyance. 2014-06-15 to 2015-11-24.
• Intensification. 2015-11-25 to 2017-04-14.
• Defeat. 2017-04-15 to TBD.

Commanding Officers issue the medal and enter the award in MCTFS. Veterans submit SF 180 to MMMA at 2008 Elliot Road, Quantico VA 22134-5030 or fax 703-784-9866 or hqmcmmma.awards.veteranrequests@usmc.mil. IRR Marines submit to MIRSA at 2000 Opelousas Avenue, New Orleans LA 70114.
