Section 2
Supporting Unit Commanding Officer’s responsibilities are outlined in Chapter 1, Section 1 3. Individual Marine’s Responsibility. Marines are individually responsible and accountable for their personal and family readiness requirements. They are supported by a continuous partnership between the command family readiness program, unit leaders, and the MCCS team. All Marines are required to review and update their official records and must convey changes that affect pay, entitlements, or duty status to the appropriate administration section or center, while also providing the supporting documentation required. A Marine’s specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

b. Report changes to dependency status such as marriage, divorce, separation, or other addition/loss of dependents to the appropriate administration section or center immediately upon occurrence. Additionally, Marines should ensure that associated documents (marriage certificate, birth certificate, divorce decree, etc) are up-to-date and located in their Official Military Personnel File (OMPF).
c. Report any changes in their service spouse's status or entitlements to the appropriate administration section or center. When married to another service member that is not a Marine, provide a copy of 12 months of their spouse’s LES when required by the administration section of center.
d. Manage their life insurance coverages and beneficiary(ies) information via the SGLI Online Enrollment System (SOES) (https://milconnect.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect/).
e. Routinely review their official military personnel file and master brief sheet for accuracy.
f. Submit all requests for administrative absence via MOL.
g. Ensure Temporary Additional Duty travel authorizations and vouchers are accurately completed and submitted within the established timelines.
h. Report changes to medical status and provide supporting documentation to the chain of command and/or limited duty coordinator.
i. Report changes in eligibility for special duty pay or entitlements.
j. Provide other certifications as required (e.g., in the case of Reserve Marines, an annual career retirement credit report).
k. Review Leave and Earnings Statements (LES) for accuracy. Additionally, myPay (https://mypay.dfas.mil/) is the primary source for managing allotments, Thrift Saving Plans (TSP), contributions, tax withholdings, and changing selected financial information.
l. Ensure all information in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) is accurate and up-to-date by either contacting their local RAPIDS/military ID Card facility, by calling 1 (800) 538-9552, or online at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/self_service/.
m. Complete the Outbound Interview no later than 10 days prior to requested departure date when in receipt of Permanent Change of Station Orders (PCSO) or Permanent Change of Assignment (PCA) orders.
n. Complete the Inbound Interview and the Travel Voucher Interview within 5 days of reporting to a new command under PCSO or PCA orders. o. Submit and monitor performance evaluation records (JEPES for E-4 and below) to ensure accuracy. p.
