Inspections Lifecycle Overview
Your duties as commander across the IGMC inspection cycle. CGIP standing requirement, FIR receipt within 30 days, CAR submission within 30 days, retention afterwards.
CGIP Directive Setup
Stand up your Commanding General's Inspection Program. Publish a unit-level directive. Designate your CIG and TAIGs in writing. Hold subordinate units to a 36-month inspection cycle.
Final Inspection Report Receipt
Receive a comprehensive written Final Inspection Report from IGMC or your CIG within 30 calendar days of the inspection out-brief. The FIR starts the clock on your Corrective Action Report.
Corrective Action Report Submission
Submit a Corrective Action Report to IGMC or your CIG within 30 calendar days of receiving the FIR. Cover every Functional Area with findings or deemed ineffective. Use Appendix D as the template.
Inspection Records Retention
Retain inspection reports and corrective records per Department of the Navy records schedules. The Command Designated Records Manager owns the retention posture for your unit.
