Bridging
PAC Processing Timelines
Brief Marines against realistic windows. PAC standard is 10 working days for most packages. Tell the Marine to expect 10, follow up at 7, escalate at 14. Set the expectation honestly.
Leader Steps
- Pull the processing window for the package type
- Brief the Marine on the realistic window
- Set the section follow-up at the 7-day mark
- Set the escalation trigger at 14 days past the window
- Verify on the Marine's LES, OMPF, or DEERS as applicable
Standard Windows

| BAH start | 10 working days | LES |
| ID card issuance | 30 days from RAPIDS appt | RAPIDS receipt, ID card |
| OMPF entry from FitRep approval | 30 to 60 days | Marine Online OMPF |
| Award entry post-ceremony | 30 to 60 days | Marine Online Awards Branch |
| Page 11 OMPF entry | 30 days | Marine Online OMPF |
| Travel voucher payment | 14 days from approved voucher | LES travel pay |
| Reenlistment package | 30 to 60 days through chain | Approval message |
| Promotion warrant | 30 days post-board | OMPF, ceremony |
These are working days under nominal load. PCS season, deployment surge, and end-of-year audit periods extend the windows.
The Five-Day UD Reporting Standard
A common section-leader anchor is the five working day reporting cycle for source documents into the Unit Diary. Once a source document arrives at the section, the admin section has five working days to report the action to MCTFS via UD/MIPS so the system reflects reality.
Brief the Marine Honestly
Tell the Marine the real window. Do not promise tomorrow.
- "Expect 10 working days."
- "I will check in with you at day 7."
- "If we are past 14 working days, we walk back to S-1 together."
A Marine briefed to expect 3 days who waits 10 calls you weak on follow-through. A Marine briefed to expect 10 who gets it in 5 thinks the system worked.
When to Push at Day 7
A 7-day check is not a complaint to S-1. It is a section discipline.
- Pull the package status from S-1 contact.
- Confirm the package is in the queue.
- Identify any blocking issue.
- Coordinate corrections if needed.
Most blocking issues at day 7 are correctable. Most blocking issues at day 14 cost time you do not have.
Escalation Triggers
Escalate when the package sits 14 days past the standard window with no movement.
- First. Named S-1 contact.
- Second. S-1 chief or OIC.
- Third. Battalion or unit S-1 if the section sits one level down.
- Fourth. Through the chain to commander engagement if the issue is structural.
Escalation is not an attack on S-1. The S-1 has volume. Your section's volume sits inside that. Escalation surfaces a stuck package the S-1 also wants to clear.
Where Verification Lands
Each package type verifies in a different system.
- LES. Pay-impacting changes.
- DEERS. Dependent enrollment.
- Marine Online OMPF. Records entries.
- Marine Online Awards Branch. Awards entries.
- RAPIDS. ID card issuance.
- DTS. Travel voucher status.
Brief the Marine on which system to check and at what date.
Where to Go Next
- Follow-up cadence for the leader's tracking discipline.
- Escalation paths for stuck packages.
