Line of Duty (LOD) Coverage for Reserve Injuries
When a reservist is injured during inactive duty (drill, AT, FHD), Line of Duty (LOD) determination drives healthcare coverage and benefits. LOD investigations document whether the injury occurred in qualifying status.
Pre-Mobilization Coverage and TAMP
Reservists alerted for mobilization receive pre-mobilization healthcare coordination. After demobilization, the Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP) provides 180 days of continued coverage. These two windows protect coverage during major status transitions.
TRICARE for Life (TFL) for Reserve Retirees
TRICARE for Life is the secondary payer to Medicare for retirees age 65 and over. Reserve retirees with Medicare Part A and B enrolled receive TFL automatically. No premiums, no enrollment fees beyond Medicare Part B premium.
TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS)
TRICARE Reserve Select is the premium-based health plan for Selected Reserve members. Drilling SMCR Marines and their families purchase TRS for active duty quality healthcare. Monthly premiums apply with cost-sharing for services.
TRICARE Retired Reserve (TRR)
TRICARE Retired Reserve (TRR) covers reservists who completed 20 qualifying years and are awaiting age 60 retirement pay. Premium-based coverage bridges the gap between Reserve retirement and Medicare eligibility.
