Cost of Living Allowance (COLA)
COLA compensates Marines stationed at high-cost locations to offset cost of living above the average. CONUS COLA applies to specific high-cost CONUS locations. Overseas COLA (OCOLA) applies to overseas duty stations with high cost of goods and services.
Pay Debts and Waivers (Checkages)
When a Marine is overpaid, MCTFS creates a pay debt requiring repayment. Members may apply for waiver or remission of debt under specific circumstances. Proper processing protects the member's pay and the government's interest.
