Role and responsibility

The deployed commander authorizes R&R Leave per MCO 1050.3JMCO 1050.3J Chapter 2 paragraph 13. The S-1 chief processes the R&R Leave order and coordinates with the IPAC for travel arrangements. The S-1 officer signs by direction on routine R&R cases. The HHQ casualty or operations branch designates qualifying operations.

Source documents flow from the deployment order, the qualifying operation designation, the Marine's deployment duration, and the unit R&R quota. R&R Leave transactions land in MOL and MCTFS. Outputs include the R&R Leave order, the travel coordination, the chargeable status entry, and the return-to-deployment record.

Per MCO 1050.3JMCO 1050.3J Chapter 2 paragraph 13 (Rest and Recuperation Leave Programs), R&R Leave is authorized for Marines deployed to qualifying operations.
