The MBS shows each FITREP date range, report type, RS, RO, marks, comparative assessment, and the Reporting Senior Profile providing context for how the marks should be read. Marines view the MBS through Marine Online (MOL). Verify accuracy before any promotion or selection board. What the MBS Displays

Per MCO 1610.7BMCO 1610.7B, the MBS aggregates the Marine's FITREP history into a single profile.

Per FITREP Information

For each FITREP on the record.

• Date range (reporting period start and end).
• Report type (Annual, Change of RS, Change of RO, etc.).
• Reporting Senior name and grade.
• Reviewing Officer name and grade.
• Marks for each of the six performance attributes.
• Comparative assessment in Section G.
• Days observed by RS and RO.
• Body composition status (per MARADMIN 066/26MARADMIN 066/26 directed comment selection).

Aggregate Patterns

The MBS shows.

• Trends across time (improvement, sustainment, decline).
• Consistency across multiple RSs and ROs.
• Comparative assessment patterns.

Reporting Senior Profile

For each RS who marked the Marine, the MBS shows the RS's broader marking profile. This provides context for how to read each FITREP's marks.

How Selection Boards Use the MBS

Selection boards (promotion, retention, special duty selection) review the MBS as the primary performance assessment tool.

Promotion Boards

Promotion boards review the MBS to.

Common MBS Errors

Missing FITREPs

The RS submitted a FITREP but it does not appear on the MBS. Common causes.

• Submission delays at PES quality control.
• Procedural failures returning the FITREP for correction.
• System errors during MCTFS upload.

Incorrect Dates

The reporting period or report submission date is wrong on the MBS.

Wrong RS or RO

The MBS shows the wrong Reporting Senior or Reviewing Officer name.

Section A Administrative Errors

Wrong DOR, wrong MOS, wrong Service Component, or other Section A errors.

Body Composition Errors (MARADMIN 066/26)

Per MARADMIN 066/26MARADMIN 066/26 effective 1 January 2026, height ("000"), weight ("000"), and body fat (blank) entries should be standardized. Errors in these fields require correction.

Comparative Assessment Visibility

Marks displayed do not match the actual FITREP. Verify against the original FITREP.

Error Correction Process

Per MCO 1610.7BMCO 1610.7B and HQMC PES guidance.

Step 1. Identify the Error

Document the specific error. Compare the MBS display against the original FITREP and supporting records.

Step 2. Coordinate With Unit S-1

The unit S-1 PES Manager is the primary point of contact for MBS error correction. The PES Manager.

• Verifies the error.
• Identifies the correction pathway.
• Coordinates with the Reporting Senior or Reviewing Officer if needed.
• Routes the correction request to HQMC PES.

Step 3. PES Correction

HQMC PES reviews the correction request and processes the correction. Common timelines vary based on the type of error.

Step 4. Verification

After PES processes the correction, the Marine verifies the corrected MBS through MOL.

Verification Before Boards

Before Any Selection Board

Verify the MBS at least 60 days before any board cycle.

What to Check

• All FITREPs from the relevant reporting period are present.
• Dates and RS/RO are correct.
• Marks match the original FITREPs.
• Comparative assessment matches.
• Body composition entries are correct.
• No procedural notations or annotations are missing.
• The Reporting Senior Profile information is current.

If Errors Are Found

Coordinate with the unit S-1 PES Manager immediately. Errors found close to a board cycle may not be corrected in time. Earlier verification gives more time for correction.

The MBS and JEPES

Per MCO 1610.7BMCO 1610.7B and MCO 1616.1MCO 1616.1, the MBS in its current form aggregates FITREPs (E-5 and above). JEPES reports for E-1 through E-4 are administered separately through MCTFS.

Junior Enlisted Records

For junior enlisted Marines (E-1 through E-4), the equivalent record is the JEPES history. View through MOL.

MBS Activation at Sergeant Promotion

When a Marine promotes to Sergeant (E-5), the MBS framework activates. The first FITREP after promotion appears on the MBS. Subsequent FITREPs build the profile over time.

Reporting Senior Profile on the MBS

The MBS displays the RS's broader marking profile to provide context for the marks given to the Marine.

What the Profile Shows

• Distribution of marks given by this RS to all evaluated Marines.
• Comparative assessment distribution (MUE through MFE).
• Average marks vs Marine Corps-wide averages.
• Notable patterns.

Why the Profile Matters

A G mark from an RS who routinely marks G is interpreted differently than a G mark from an RS with a balanced profile. Boards calibrate accordingly.

MRO Awareness

The MRO does not need to track every nuance of the RS's profile but should understand the framework. A strong narrative supporting the marks is more compelling than the marks alone.
