Role and responsibility

The Sponsorship Coordinator runs the inbound sponsor program per MCO 1320.11HMCO 1320.11H Paragraph 4.b.(7) (Sponsorship Coordinators). The unit commander signs the welcome aboard letter per Enclosure (2). The assigned sponsor per Paragraph 4.b.(8) executes contact with the inbound Marine. The IR&R Installation Program Manager per Paragraph 4.b.(9) coordinates installation-level resource referral. The S-1 officer signs by direction on the sponsor designation letter per Enclosure (7).

2. Designate the sponsor. Per Paragraph 4.b.(8) and Enclosure (7), the Sponsorship Coordinator matches sponsor to inbound Marine by grade, MOS, and family status.
3. Cut the sponsor designation letter. Per Enclosure (7), the designation letter runs in writing.
4. Issue welcome aboard letters. Per Enclosures (2), (4), (5), and (6), the unit and the sponsor issue welcome aboard letters per the assignment type.
5. Coordinate IR&R handoff. Per Paragraph 4.b.(9) and MCO 1754.10BMCO 1754.10B, the IR&R Installation Program Manager coordinates installation-level resource referral.
6. Confirm sponsor contact. The Sponsorship Coordinator confirms the sponsor reached the inbound Marine.
7. Track sponsor execution. Per Enclosure (3) metrics, track the sponsor coverage and contact.
8. Brief the inbound Marine on arrival. The S-1 and the sponsor brief the inbound Marine and family at arrival.
9. Close out sponsorship at completion. Per MCO 1320.11H Paragraph 4.b.(6) and 4.b.(8), sponsorship closes at the agreed milestone.
10. Document sponsorship completion. Per MCO P1070.12K paragraph 4006 cross-reference and MCO 1320.11H, document on Page 11.
