Function coding
GENA. Inspection support is the front-of-house function of the admin shop during any CIG visit. The S-1 routes document requests, runs the logistics, and captures the out-brief.
Source policy
MCO 5040.6K, Enclosure 1, Chapter 5, Section 2 governs the CGIP. The CIG works directly for the commander. The S-1 is the operational interface between the CIG team and the staff sections inside the unit.
Performance steps
- Receive the CIG inspection notification. Confirm inspection window, scope, and FACs to be assessed.
- Pull every applicable FAC from this portal at
/inspections/igmc. Confirm each FAC'slastVerifiedis fresh. If aging or stale, flag to the sponsor and to the CIG. - Designate a single S-1 point of contact. Inbound document requests funnel through that POC.
- Brief affected staff sections on inspection scope. Each section owner gets the FAC questions tied to their function and the documents the inspector will ask for.
- Pre-stage evidence binders. Build one binder per FAC. Each binder contains the FAC question, the reference cited, and the closure artifact for every applicable question.
- Walk the in-brief and out-brief logistics with the CIG. Room reservation, security access, point-of-contact list.
- Capture the out-brief verbatim in writing. The out-brief drives the FIR. Discrepancies between the verbal out-brief and the written FIR trigger a request for clarification before the 30 day FIR clock closes.
