Source policy
MCO 5040.6K, Enclosure 1, Chapters 5 and 6. The Order names the CGIP, the FIR within 30 calendar days of the out-brief, the CAR within 30 calendar days of FIR receipt, and DON records retention per MCO 5210.11F and SECNAV M-5210.1.
Performance steps
- Map every applicable FAC to a staff section using the IGMC FA registry and the inspection track on this portal. Owners route to the FA sponsor named in the registry.
- Build the quarterly self-assessment cadence. Schedule a working session per FAC at least once per quarter. Document findings.
- When a CIG or IGMC inspection is scheduled, stand the support team. Designate a single point of contact for inbound document requests. Pre-stage evidence binders.
- On FIR receipt, log the date and route the document to the commander for acknowledgement. Start the 30-day CAR clock.
- Draft the CAR using the Appendix D template from MCO 5040.6K. Address every finding and every ineffective FA. Cite the originating reference for each item.
- File the FIR, the signed CAR, and the supporting evidence per MCO 5210.11F. Confirm retention with the Command Designated Records Manager (CDRM).
