PFC and LCpl Promotion - S-1 Procedural Page

Role and responsibility

The promotions clerk runs the automatic PFC and LCpl promotion process per MCO P1400.32DMCO P1400.32D Chapter 2 paragraph 2100 (General), paragraph 2101 (Active Component), paragraph 2102 (SMCR/AR), and paragraph 2103 (IRR). The S-1 chief reconciles the monthly promotion roster against MCTFS and surfaces non-recommendation actions. The S-1 officer signs by direction on Page 11 entries. The commander pins the new rank at the ceremony.

Processing workflow

1. Pull the unit promotion zone roster. Per Chapter 1 paragraph 1202, surface Marines at or near the TIG/TIS gate.
2. Validate TIG and TIS. Per MCO P1400.32DMCO P1400.32D Chapter 1 paragraph 1202, confirm the Marine meets the Pvt-to-PFC or PFC-to-LCpl criteria.
3. Identify the component. Per Chapter 2 paragraph 2101 (active), paragraph 2102 (SMCR/AR), or paragraph 2103 (IRR), apply the component-specific rule.
4. Screen restrictions. Per Chapter 1 paragraph 1204, screen for discipline, medical, performance, or administrative holds.
5. Confirm no non-recommendation. Per Chapter 1 paragraph 1204, a chain-of-command non-recommendation Page 11 suspends the automatic promotion. Verify the OMPF and the unit register.

9. Update pay grade and entitlements. New pay grade triggers base pay change.
10. Brief the Marine. The S-1 chief briefs the Marine on the new responsibilities and pay.

Common pitfalls
