Medical Hold and Limited Duty (LIMDU)
Members with medical conditions affecting duty enter Medical Hold or Limited Duty (LIMDU). LIMDU restricts member from full duties pending recovery or evaluation. Medical Hold is for members on active duty pending disability disposition.

Limited Duty (LIMDU)
Per MCRAMM Chapter 6 and MCO P6320.13MCO P6320.13, Limited Duty (LIMDU) is a status for members with temporary medical conditions limiting duty.
When LIMDU Applies
Members enter LIMDU when.
- Medical condition limits ability to perform full duties
- Condition is temporary or has potential for recovery
- Treatment continues with goal of return to full duty
- Specific medical evaluation supports LIMDU status
LIMDU Categories
LIMDU has different durations.
Initial LIMDU (8 months)
- Initial period for evaluation and treatment
- Member continues service with restrictions
- Treatment focused on full duty return
LIMDU Extension (8 additional months)
- If condition has not resolved
- Continued treatment
- Approaching disposition decision
LIMDU End
After 16 months total LIMDU, member's case must reach disposition.
- Full duty return
- Disability separation processing
- Specific other dispositions
Reserve Member LIMDU
Reserve members in LIMDU have specific provisions.
- Drilling restrictions per medical limitations
- Pay continues for drilling performed
- LIMDU might affect deployment eligibility

Medical Hold
For members on active duty awaiting medical disposition.
When Medical Hold Applies
Members enter Medical Hold when.
- On active duty (mobilization, AT, etc.)
- Medical condition prevents return to drilling status
- Treatment continues

- Active duty pay and benefits
