DOD Financial Management Regulation, Volume 9 - Travel Policy

Scope

Volume 9 of DOD Financial Management Regulation 7000.14-R sets travel policy for the Department of Defense. The volume governs temporary duty (TDY), permanent duty travel (PCS), transportation allowances, evacuation allowances, travel advances, and the processing of travel claims. Every TDY voucher and PCS claim a Marine submits flows through the rules in this volume.

Audience

Every Marine who travels on orders. Disbursing clerks, travel pay clerks, and S-4 personnel preparing and processing claims. Authorizing Officials, Approving Officials, and Certifying Officials in DTS. Commanders making travel authorization decisions and managing travel-incurred debt for their unit. The order at the Marine Corps level is MCO 4650.39A.

Authority

Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) publishes the FMR. Each Volume 9 chapter updates on its own cadence.
